Our Doctrinal Statement
The Plummer Bible Church stands for the Word of God in its entirety, with all the great (essential) doctrines taught therein.
WE BELIEVE IN:
-
Verbal Inspiration: That the Bible, composed of the Old and New Testaments, is inspired of God, without error in its original writing and preserved by God through translations, to be our supreme and final authority in faith and living. [2 Timothy 3:16,17]
-
The Trinity: That God the Creator is one, existing eternally in three persons; the
Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. [Genesis 1:1; Deut 6:4; John 10:30; John 4:24]
-
Creation: We believe the Genesis account of creation as a literal, historical account of the direct, immediate creative acts of God, without the involvement of any evolutionary process (Genesis 1:1-2:25; Colossians 1:16; John 1:3-10).
-
Marriage: We believe that marriage between one male and one female is ordained by God and is the ideal foundation for the family (Ge. 2:24, Ep. 3:15).
-
Jesus Christ: That Jesus Christ was born of the Holy Spirit and of the virgin, Mary, and that He is fully God and fully human, and the only sufficient Mediator between God and man. [Luke 1:35; John 1:1,14; 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Timothy 2:5; 1 John 2:1]
-
Total Depravity: That man was created in the image of God and that he sinned and is, by nature, totally without the holiness required by God's law and by choice inclined to disobey God's law and therefore under just condemnation to eternal death. [Genesis 2:17; Romans 1:20; 3:19,23; 6:23]
-
The Personality of Satan: That Satan (also called Devil, Serpent, Father of lies, Deceiver, etc.), is a personal being created perfect by God, fallen into sin by choice, given limited spiritual power in this age, leader of hosts of demonic forces waging war against God and His people until his final imprisonment in the Lake of Fire. [Ezekiel 28:12‑17; Job 1:6,7; Ephesians 6:11,12; Revelation 20:7‑10]
-
Blood Atonement: That the shed blood of Jesus Christ is the only atonement (satisfactory payment) for sins. [Matthew 26:28: Romans 3:25; Hebrews 2:17; 9:13,14; 1 Peter 1:18.19]
-
Justification By Faith (Salvation by Justification) That salvation from sin comes through faith in the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross, in His literal and physical resurrection, His ascension into heaven, and His personal, visible future return to the earth for His followers. [Acts 1:11; 13:38,39; Romans 5:1, 9; 3:24; Ephesians 2:8,9]
-
The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit: That God the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin; regenerates, indwells, enlightens and guides the believer. [John 16:8,13; Romans 8:11; 1 Corinthians 2:13; 3:16; Titus 3:5]
-
Eternal Security: That believers, once truly born again of the Spirit, cannot lose that free gift of eternal life. [John 10:28,29; Romans 8:37‑39]
-
The Second Coming of Christ: That the return of Jesus Christ is imminent. [Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17; James 5:8]
-
A Literal Hell: (Literal Eternal Punishment) In the literal, eternal, conscious suffering of all unsaved persons. [Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:10,14,15; 21:8]
-
The Church: That the New Testament church is 1) A body consisting of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ from the time of His death and resurrection until He returns, and 2) Consists of groups of believers in geographical areas, who gather regularly for worship, prayer, fellowship, study of God's Word and breaking of bread, that they might be equipped to carry out the Great Commandment & the Great Commission. [Matthew 22:36-40; Matt 28:19,20; Acts 1:8; 2:42; 1 Corinthians 12:12,13; Titus 1:3; Hebrews 10:25; 1 Peter 1:1]
-
Separation from the World: That all believers are called into a life of separation from all worldly and sinful practices. [John 17:15-19; Romans 12:1,2; 2 Corinthians 6:14; James 4:4; 1 John 2:16;]
-
Man's Future Existence: That the physical bodies of all believers will be transformed into eternal, physical resurrection bodies of flesh and bone in which to reside in the presence of God and that all unsaved (unbelievers) will also be given a physical, eternal body in which to suffer eternal torment. [Luke 24:36-42; John 5:28,29; Acts 24:15; 1 John 3:2]
